What is the procedure for extension?

Extension of the Trademark Protection Period is required for trademark rights owners who have obtained a trademark certificate to extend the trademark protection period for another 10 years. Applications for Extension of the Brand Protection Period must be made no later than 6 months before the brand protection period expires.

Procedures for extending protection period:

1. Order billing code at simpaki.dgip.go.id 
2. Select “Brand and Geographical Indication” in the type of service
3. Select “Extension of Brand Protection Period”
4. Select the remaining term of brand protection
5. Enter the applicant data and application data completely
6. Make PNBP payments via ATM/internet banking/m-banking

If you have done all the steps above, then the next step is:

1. Log in to your brand account at merek.dgip.go.id
2. Select “Post Online Application”
3. Select the application type “Extension of the Trademark Protection Period” – according to the remaining period of trademark protection, then enter the billing code that has been paid, click the “Add Application” button in the lower left corner, then enter the application number
4. After that, input the applicant’s personal data
5. Click “Add”, and attach the required documents
6. Make sure all the data uploaded is correct
7. Click “Done”
