Bali will Reopen for Foreign Tourists – Bali is a very popular tourist destination in Indonesia among local and foreign tourists. Bali has its own magnet that can attract tourists from various parts of the world. Bali has various types of tourism ranging from nature, culture, to culinary. No wonder Bali has been named the best tourist destination in the world.

Quoting from the page travel.tempo.co, it is proven that Bali occupies the top four positions of the best tourist destinations in the world according to TripAdvisor after London (England), Paris (France), and Crete (Greece).

The beauty of Bali is like paradise in Indonesia and its popularity has reached the whole world like a postcard spread all over the world.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, Bali was the province most affected by the pandemic. The decline in the number of tourist visits makes Bali deserted for tourists, both local and foreign.

The decline in local or foreign tourist arrivals is due to government and other countries’ policies that restrict the movement of people/communities in order to control the spread of the corona virus.

Indonesia has closed its borders in early April 2020 to foreign tourists after the government announced the first case of Covid-19 occurred in March 2020. Indonesia closed the door for foreign nationals to enter.

But not for now, in the process of economic recovery in the tourism sector, the good, central and provincial governments of Bali are starting to open their tourism to local tourists.

Since then, local tourists have slowly started to return to Bali, coupled with news information about Bali tourism which will be reopened to foreign tourists.

The President of the Republic of Indonesia and the Governor of Bali jointly indicated that tourism on the island of Bali will be opened to foreign tourists in mid-2021 and with the preparations made by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf) in welcoming the plan to encourage the recovery of the tourism industry in Indonesia.

Below are the latest developments that we know so far regarding the reopening of the Bali tourism industry by the Indonesian government.

Work From Bali (WFB)

Quoting from the website of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy Press Release. The Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy/Head of the Tourism and Creative Economy Agency encourages more parties to participate in the Work From Bali (WFB) program as an effort to revive the tourism and creative economy (parekraf) sector in Bali which has been significantly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Indeed, this policy started with the ASN of ministries/agencies, but the Work From Bali (WFB) program is being socialized to state-owned companies and start-up companies or startups.

What is Work From Bali (WFB)?

The Work From Bali (WFB) program is an effort program from the government to invite people to work from Bali or to revive the Bali economy which has been slumped due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Currently, the chosen location for Work From Bali (WFB) is the Nusa Dua area.

Vaccination Program

Quoting from the www.baliprov.go.id page, the Governor of Bali emphasized that his party was continuing to work hard with various strategies to overcome the Covid-19 pandemic on the Island of the Gods – Bali.

This is not only aimed at ensuring the health and safety of the community, but also to restore international confidence in tourism in Bali.

According to the Governor of Bali, his party together with all ranks and the Covid-19 Handling Task Force carried out more focused and intensive handling to overcome the pandemic.

Vaccination Program

——————————

For vaccination, it is also being accelerated and now the province of Bali has the highest percentage of vaccines given. Where we also prioritize tourism actors other than health workers (health workers, ed).

This will create optimism for Bali, give hope to us and the community.

Temporary data shows that the number of people who have been vaccinated has reached 1,325,407 people or 44.18 percent for the first stage of injection and 636,639 of the second stage of injection or 21.22 percent.

Preparation for Travel Corridor Arrangement

The Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) said that the preparation for the Bali Travel Corridor Arrangement (TCA) was around 85-90 percent.

Regarding the opening of Bali tourism to foreign tourists, all of the fulfillment of prerequisites, such as controlling the Covid-19 case, vaccination, preparation of the Travel Corridor Arrangement (TCA), increasing compliance with health protocols, and so on are still being carried out.

Travel Corridor Arrangement is entering the finalization stage in terms of preparation for Safe Travel Corridor Arrangement related to welcoming back tourists.

Health Protocol Compliance Improvement

Improve adherence to health protocols. To assist these efforts, among others, through the “Clean, Beautiful, Healthy, and Safe” (BISA). Movement which will continue to be rolled out in tourist destinations. Including increasing the number of Cleanliness, Health, Safety and Environment Sustainability (CHSE) certifications in Bali.

Airlines Flying to Bali

The method of arrival of foreign tourists, whether using charter planes or conventional flights, is still under study first. The reason is that the process of foreign tourist arrivals is still in the making.

Lockdowns and restrictions from various countries to protect their citizens are indeed the main obstacles in flights to Bali. Currently, only local airlines are allowed to fly to Bali.

Conclusion

It is still not known with certainty when Bali Tourism will immediately reopen to foreign nationals, but the Government will continue to encourage acceleration of opening for the sake of economic recovery. However, we must also ensure that the number of Covid-19 transmissions can be controlled properly so that it can be realized.
