Difference Kitas Spouse and Dependent – Foreigners who are married to Indonesians (mixed marriages) who plan to stay in Indonesia and Foreigners who are doing a job in Indonesia who plan to bring their children and wife (family) can get a Stay Permit / Kitas Family Union.

The following is information regarding the difference between Spouse Kitas and Dependent Kitas for Foreigners, Mixed Married Couples or Foreigners with the Purpose of Family Unity who will stay in the Indonesian Territory.

Definition of Kitas/ITAS

Limited Stay Permit is a permit granted to a foreigner to stay and be in the territory of Indonesia for a limited period of time.

Kitas Spouse

This Temporary Stay Permit is granted to foreign nationals who are married to Indonesian citizens (mixed marriages) who wish to join their families in Indonesia. Holders of this permit are not allowed to work in Indonesia.

Who can sponsor a spouse’s Kitas?

Spouse’s KITAS sponsor must be a husband or wife who is an Indonesian citizen (WNI). Those who are legally married both religiously and civilly and are legally registered in Indonesia by having a Marriage Book/marriage certificate and a marriage certificate that has been registered by the Indonesian Civil Registry.

Length of stay given for Kitas spouse?

The maximum length period of a spouse’s KITAS is 6 (six) months until 1 (one) year / 12 (twelve) months. And it can be extended 5 times and can also be converted into a KITAP-Permanent Stay Permit.

Document requirements in spouse Kitas?

  1. Application letter & Guarantee letter from the husband or wife of an Indonesian citizen (WNI);
  2. Passport, side of bio & cover page;
  3. Pas Photo Formal Background White;
  4. Bank statements showing balance at least of USD 2,000 or IDR 29,000,000-30,000,000;
  5. Spouse`s ID/KTP (status should be married);
  6. Book Marriage or Certificate of Marriage;

    Married in Indonesia
    :
    >  Marriage book or Marriage Certificate;
    If Married Abroad :
    >  Marriage Certificate from the Civil country of which you are married;
    >  Marriage Certificate Report from the Indonesian embassy / consulate abroad;
    >  Certificate of Marriage Report from Disdukcapil in Indonesia;
  1. Family Card of the spouse (must be separated from spouse`s parents);
  2. Birth certificate of Indonesia Spouse;
  3. Tax Card/NPWP Personal Spouse;

Additional documents during the pandemic

  1. Certificate/Proof of having vaccinated with full dose;
  2. Health Insurance of foreigners;
  3. A statement of willingness to comply with all applicable health protocols in Indonesia;

Cost for spouse Kitas?

Payment Components (per application)

  1. Visa approval (telex): IDR 200,000,-
  2. Limited Stay Visa: 150 US dollars
  3. Limited Stay Permit: the fee is according to the length of the Stay Permit granted.
  4. Re-Entry Permit: the fee is according to the length of the Re-Entry Permit granted.

All these cost are paid to Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP)

Benefits of having a Kitas in Indonesia

  1. Can stay in Indonesia for 1 year and have a MERP (Multiple Exit/Re-Entry Permit) valid for 1 year;
  2. Can make a SIM (Driving License) Indonesia;
  3. Can open bank accounts, apply for loans and credit cards in Indonesia;
  4. Free to enter and exit Indonesia for 1 year;
  5. Eligible for joint property ownership with spouse;
  6. Eligible to have Personal Insurance in Indonesia

Kitas Dependent

A stay permit that allows foreigners (foreigners) who allow accompanying family members of the main work permit (IMTA) and stay permit (KITAS) holders, to bring their husband/wife and children under 18 years old. Dependent holders are not allowed to work in Indonesia or earn income from Indonesian companies.

Length of stay given for Kitas dependent?

Dependent Stay Permit applies to the wife/husband or child of a foreigner who is officially married to his/her partner.

It is allowed to stay in Indonesia and the validity stay permit period following the stay permit owned by the spouse (follow the main KITAS of foreigners) and can be extended
