Mandatory to Have an SKTT for KITAS Holders – In accordance with Law Number 24 of 2013 concerning amendments to Law Number 23 of 2006 concerning Population Administration in Article 1 paragraph 2 it is said that Residents are Indonesian Citizens and Foreigners residing in Indonesia. Therefore, not only Indonesian citizens have the right to have residence documents, but also foreign citizens.

For foreigners who already have a Limited Stay Permit (KITAS) from the Directorate General of Immigration, Ministry of Law and Human Rights, they are required to have a Certificate of Residence (SKTT) from the local Disdukcapil Office.

This Certificate of Residence or SKTT is valid for 1-2 years, following the validity of the Kitas and can be renewed whenever it expires.

What is SKTT?

SKTT stands for Certificate of Residence. SKTT is an identity issued by the Department of Population and Civil Registration (Disdukcapil) which is given to foreigners who have a Limited Stay Permit (KITAS). This letter must be owned by foreign citizens as a condition for staying in Indonesia. This is regulated in Article 48 Paragraph (1) of Law no. 6 of 2011 that foreigners are required to have a residence permit.
